The design and construction process for this home involved an extraordinary number of collaborators, many of whom are neighbors and friends of the owners. As the architects we provided the basic cloth which was then embroidered, with considerable craft, during construction.
Our work on this new house prompted many of our thoughts now outlined as Northwest Romantic Modernism.
The design incorporates:
- an inglenook with a Rumford fireplace in the living room
- balconies for each bedroom
- a sleeping porch with a fireplace
- a meditation room separated from but within the main house
- a kung fu room in the basement
- large kitchen with breakfast nook
